There’s something intriguingly magical about Fly Shoes. It’s a difficult little thing to explain, and often relatively hard to place ones fingers on. Their allure is nothing short of beguiling; a deceptively cunning blend of form and function entwined with a passion and flare that you simply don’t see these days.
It’s a real shame too, as we could certainly do with a few Fly London clones in the footwear world a market that has become truly over saturated with the cheap and tacky, the flimsy and the nasty, not to mention the downright disgusting and the luridly loathsome.
Even the names that the wacky and whimsical minds at Fly Shoes come up with are nothing short of spectacular. For those of you who are familiar with a certain so called ‘sacred’ text, I would imagine that the name Yoni will ring a pleasantly amusing bell (certainly no pun intended there whatsoever). The slightly less subtly named Libia is truly one of the all time greats when it comes to naming shoes, and surely warrants a purchase even if you don’t like the style.
The designs themselves are unashamedly different; a trait that more shoemakers should be erring towards. If there’s one sure-fire way of freshening up your wardrobe, then it’s certainly with a pair of Fly shoes. And if we as consumers are aware of that freshening technique, then we’re going to head out and buy a pair every time we’re feeling a little low.
But there is far, far more to Fly Shoes success than quirky names and refreshingly different designs. They’re one of the few shoes, that I know of at least, that are designed from the ground up to be both comfortable and stylish. It’s usually only ever one or the other. If a shoe is designed to be good looking from the off, then comfort is usually completely disregarded or, at best, added at the last minute as an obvious afterthought. It’s exactly the same thing with shoes that are designed with comfort in mind. Yes, you will end up with an almost impossibly comfortable pair of shoes, but you will also be about as stylish and as a la mode as the rest of the chaps down at your local bowling club.
What Fly Shoes do is dare to be different, to break the mould, to go against the grain. And d’you know what? They’ve got it down to well rounded and full bodied T. It may well have been a risky strategy at the outset, but my days I can honestly and wholeheartedly tell you that they’ve well and truly pulled it off. They deserve some sort of a medal, or at the very least a shiny new goldfish. They put a lot on the line and took a risk, a punt, a bit of a gamble and my word did it pay off. Big time.
Perhaps there should be a new set of laws put in place for any prospective new shoemaker. If you want to take your product to market then you have to promise us that you’re not just going to play it safe and produce another batch of two a penny, run of the mill everyday shoes.

You should be forced to sign some sort of official document, preferably in your own blood, to promise to the world that you will make interesting and unique shoes. Maybe if this law is ever implemented, Fly shoes will finally have a bit of competition. To know more visit : http://www.shoes.co.uk.
